Adding a new tool to the versatility of the four string electric mandolin, this tremolo unit has been designed, developed, constructed, tried and tested for the past two years with great success. The "Reliant" tremolo® is a unique feature of the NMA Special four string electric mandolin.

The NMA Special.

Based on the Long Gone Lonesome four string electric, this was the result of a chance encounter with an orange Gretsch guitar fitted out with luminous green strings. Kindly loaned to me for a show by Arthur Nicholson up in the Shetland Isles, not only did it look great,  you could see what you were doing on a dark stage and it had a tremolo! A dream come, back in the shed, things literally fell in to place as I set about attempting to create this tribute to all things involving tremolos, green strings* and orange finishes, in the guise of an electric four string mandolin. Two years later this is the result, sporting gold and black hardware, Gotoh 503 tuners, a Wizzard custom built humbucker, brass nut, french polished road weary finish, ash body with black binding and an orange maple top, gold scratchplate, rosewood fingerboard with side dots, with, of course, a "Reliant" tremolo® unit fitted as standard. A feature of this range is the guitar string spacing , as opposed to the wider string spacing normally found on a four string.
